Hi again...

Hi, everybody!

It's been a while since I posted so here I am again. I got back from Florida last week and we had a blast. So I'm back home again in Milwaukee (and glad about it - I mean, Florida was great, but I like being home...).

FYI, I'm currently listening to Rabbi Mechanic of http://www.projectchazon.com ... a recording of when he came to my school this year. Anyway, it's really good (and it's 2 1/2 hours long!).

Here at YALDAH, we're trying to finish up the fall issue. Since everyone is at camp and doing their summer stuff, it's hard to meet deadlines and everything. Baruch Hashem (thank G-d) everything is starting to come together and getting a move on!

Also, remember - Tisha B'av (Ninth of Av) is in just 2 days (Wednesday night & Thursday) so make sure to be prepared, http://www.aish.com/h/9av/ is a great source... im yirtzeh Hashem (please G-d), Tisha B'av this year will be a celebration at the third Bais Hamikdash (Temple) in Yerushalayim! See you there!

So anyway, I'm gonna call it a day (er... maybe a night) and... I'll talk to you another day.

Have an inspirational and easy fast (if we end up not at the Bais Hamikdash yet)

Starting! For real!

Hi everyone,

Last night I sat down and wrote the rough draft of my part of the editorial for the Fall issue. Excuse me while I freak out for a minute...

AAAAAAAHHH!

Better now. I can't believe I'm really starting...

Like Emily and Nechama I am having a great summer. I'm working in a Gan Israel and having a total blast... there are six more camp days left. I can't believe it. I was a counselor for two different groups of kids last year, but this is the first time I think I'm really going to miss every single one of my campers...

That's about all for now. =) More later.

Mosquitoes, Real Readers and a semi-spoiler...

Hi, YALDAH readers!

I do love summer, like Nechama, though I'm not at all partial to the mosquitoes. But who is?

Anyways, I'm working hard while everyone else gets to chill out (just kidding!) and I'm editing the last few articles for the Fall 2009 issue. There's still some stuff left for me to do, but I'm almost done. Love that feeling of freedom!

I've been thinking about what I'd submit as a Real Reader, if I were to submit. What is my favorite thing about YALDAH? What is your favorite thing about YALDAH? I'll post mine next time- in the meantime, you post yours in the comments section, even if you've already submitted as a Real Reader. Can't wait to see what you have to say!

Lucky YALDAH staff members are off to Jewish Girls' Retreat... wish I could be there!

Let me just give you one semi-spoiler about the Fall issue: it's going to be the best yet, G-d willing!

Emily

Ahhh... summer!

Hi, everyone!

Don't you loooove summer? The sun, heat, mosquitoes, camp...

As of right now, I'm really enjoying it (surprise, surprise). I'm in Orlando, FL (!) with my sister. We're staying at some family friends' house, working in their factory, having some fun...

and spreading the word about YALDAH, of course! When I came home from the Shabbaton, I brought home a little stack of Real Reader posters. So, granted, I'm going to a new place, I bring a couple of posters. So, on Erev Shabbos, I gave them to my host, briefly told him what I do for YALDAH, and asked him if he could hang one or two up at shul.

So, of course, he told the Rabbi all about it! The Rabbi, apparently, thought it was very cool. Anyway, this morning (Shabbos), we got to shul, and of course, there on the front door, was hanging a Real Reader poster! (It's Rebecca, in case you're wondering.)

Ok, so yeah we went and davened. Then, as Chabad does, there was a whole sit-down Kiddush (something I'm not used to...) and the Rabbi went around introducing all of the guests. So, then he asked my hosts to introduce me and my sister. They did, and then the Rabbi asked if I wanted to talk about YALDAH.

I happen to be a little... not shy, but I don't like talking to a group of people, unprepared! So my hostess told everyone a little about it. Later, at the ladies' Shalosh Seudos, I ended up telling a couple of people about it, and I think I even got a subscriber (!!)

Well, so that's my excitement for the week.

I'm not listening to anything because a) it's the 3 weeks, so I can't listen to music, and b) this isn't my computer so I'm not gonna look through it for shiurim to listen to! In general, though, I like listening to Rabbi Shafier of http://www.theshmuz.com/. To find out more about the 3 weeks, go to http://www.aish.com/h/9av/

Have a great week and remember to enjoy the summer!

Get back to work!

This seems to happen to me very often:

I'm on the computer working on something when this little voice in my head says "Wow, this is fun! You really should get back to work..."

So in my mind I have a little self-discipline and decide, "yeah, time to get back to work."

And then I look at what I'm doing and hey, this is what I'm supposed to be doing! I'm designing the cover/reading an interview for Teen Talk/testing a craft/brainstorming article ideas/blogging... I am working!

Share YALDAH!

Hi, everyone!

I don't have much time for a long post, 'cause I'm going out of town on Tuesday, but I just wanted to say hi!

Did you see the new "10Friends" promotion on YALDAH's website? Share YALDAH with 10 of your friends who don't-yet-subscribe and add an issue onto your own subscription! Go to http://www.yaldahmagazine.com/10friends.html!

Well, I'm currently listening to "Tiskabel" by Yerachmiel Begun and the Miami Boys Choir, on the album "One by One" which came out ages and ages ago. The way I'm listening to it on the computer is that my brother converted it from tape to CD form so we can use it nowadays...

So, I've gotta go but I'll talk to you soon!
